Dedicated to exploring the way food enriches lives, the James Beard Foundation is at the forefront of America’s culinary community. The prestigious culinary arts organisation was established in 1986 in honour of James Beard, a cookbook author, television personality, and teacher with an encyclopedic knowledge about food. Beard was a champion of American cuisine and is widely considered “the dean of American cookery.” Today, JBF continues in the same spirit by administering a number of diverse programs that include food industry awards, scholarships and grants for culinary students, publications, chef advocacy training, and thought-leader convening. The Foundation also maintains the historic James Beard House in New York City’s Greenwich Village as a “performance space” for America’s best chefs.
