Every year, St. Patrick’s Day is one of the most highly anticipated holidays in Chicago. Taverns fill up to their maximum capacity and the large floats that make their way from Balbo Drive and Monroe Street create a vibrant and high spirited celebration.

Unfortunately, this year there will be a pause on the parade. Although Chicago won’t be able to fully celebrate like years past, green river water will still rush through the heart of downtown.

So don’t put your St. Patrick’s Day gear away just yet! Lucky for you, Chicago taverns and pubs still want to celebrate the emerald green holiday in a safe and socially distanced way. Put on your warm green gear, including your mask, pack your hand sanitizer, review the latest COVID-19 guidelines and get your best pals together to celebrate on the Mile!

Here are a few tips from the City of Chicago.

  • Stan's Donuts

    Start at the top of the morning with a coffee and donut! Stan’s has some of your favorite’s with a festive St. Patrick’s Day twist. Green cold foam beverages, green hot chocolate, and of course green donuts are available for pre St. Paddy’s Day festivities!

  • Timothy O'Toole's Pub

    Beginning March 12, Timothy O’Toole’s Pub is kicking off their St. Patrick’s Day festivities with Irish music and food, drink specials, and green beer!   • Hopsmith Tavern

    Known as the epitome of an Irish eruption, Hopsmith Tavern has multiple floors for a socially distanced day of drinking! Multiple drink options are available. All tickets include a 3 hour reservation from 8:00am - 11:00am and the option of sitting indoors or in outdoor heated tent seating.   • Streeter's Tavern

    You’re in luck! Celebrate the holiday while socially distanced with Streeter’s Tavern. Food and drink packages are available and include specialty cocktails, entrees for each person, and much more on March 13 and 17. Table reservations are required, as capacity is limited, and reservations are capped at 2 hours.

    There is lots of beer to go around at The Lodge Tavern! Live it up like a local and enjoy food and drink specials March 13.
