From Country Living to Loving the CityConnect with us.
Hi! My name is Erin, and as an intern at The Magnificent Mile Association I have been experiencing the Windy City as a local. Going from living in the country to loving the city, learning Chicago life has been a fun adventure. To get to know the city better, I took a friend and headed out for My Day on The Magnificent Mile to explore the different restaurants, shops and attractions.

Uniqlo
You can reach hundreds of stores on foot along The Magnificent Mile, including the newly opened Uniqlo. As this was my first time in a Uniqlo store, I didn’t know what to expect. I found there is an energetic feel through their artistic yet functional clothing, which is mirrored throughout the store with a clean layout and high functionality. I certainly plan to be back to check out their new spring collection.

Mity Nice Bar and Grill
We then walked across the street to Water Tower Place, where we ate lunch at the delicious Mity Nice Bar and Grill. I tried the flavor-filled Chili-Lime Chicken Tacos, a choice I was more than satisfied with as I love trying new things. I also enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and incredibly helpful and friendly staff.

T.J. Maxx
After eating every last bite, we continued down The Magnificent Mile to shop at T.J. Maxx, an off-price retailer. I like that this brand doesn’t sacrifice fashion or quality for affordability. With thousands of vendors from around the world ranging from fitness apparel to business professional, home goods to handbags, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for.

Millennium Park
A true day on The Magnificent Mile includes a stop to see The Bean at Millennium Park, which is what we did next. Located just south of the Chicago River, the polished stainless steel structure is also known as Cloud Gate for the way it mirrors the sky and surroundings so clearly. I dare you to not take a selfie at The Bean!

Latinicity
Walking outside on such a beautiful day, we were ready to eat again in no time. We chose Latinicity, a new venue with a unique twist on Latin street food. Latinicity includes multiple restaurants, a market, lounge and even more. We shared the Montadito de Congreja, which is crab toast with tomato fresca, avocado and espellette; along with the Gambas al Ajillo, which is garlic shrimp. Both were incredible choices!

The Second City
We saved The Second City for last, where we went to the #DateMe show. This world-renowned comedy club has been around since 1959 and has seen actors such as Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler perform on stage. If you’re looking for a night out and a good laugh, I would recommend this ridiculously funny improv venue.
By the end of The Second City show, we were tired out from our day in the Windy City. It is easy to see why Chicagoans love their city so much as there is always something going on for everyone. Make sure to plan out the places you want to visit so you can be sure to fit it all in during your day on The Magnificent Mile!
