Ducks on The Mag Mile
This summer, dozens of individually painted ducks celebrate the power of what people, business, and community can achieve when we promote a unified world for Special Olympics Illinois athletes.
Check out this world class exhibit, Ducks on the Mag Mile presented by Make Corporation, as you return to The Magnificent Mile this summer!
What is Special Olympics Illinois?
Special Olympics is a global movement that unleashes the human spirit every day through the transformative power and joy of sport. Through programming in sports, health, education, leadership and community building, Special Olympics is creating a new world of inclusion – building a culture that accepts and welcomes every single person, regardless of ability or disability.
Special Olympics Illinois offers sports training and competitions year-round in 18 Olympic-style sports. Currently, the statewide program serves more than 23,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and over 17,000 Young Athletes ages 2-7 with and without intellectual disabilities.
Through sports, our athletes celebrate their abilities, not their disabilities. Their world opens with acceptance and understanding, while becoming confident and empowered by their accomplishments. They make new friends, joining the most inclusive community on the planet – a global community that’s growing every day.
Public Art Display
Highlighting this event will be 25 unique duck sculptures placed along The Magnificent Mile, in the Streeterville, River North and Gold Coast neighborhoods from June through September.
The event coincides with the world renowned Chicago Ducky Derby on August 6, a signature fundraising event for Special Olympics Illinois and a truly unique Chicago event.
If you would like to learn more about the displays, contact Special Olympics Illinois’ Chief Marketing Officer, Chris Winston at firstname.lastname@example.org.
