Writers and whiskey go together much like pen and paper. Beacon Tavern and The Gage offer a writer’s whiskey flight and specialty cocktail throughout the month of October.
Illinois boasts an incredible list of authors, from Ernest Hemingway to Carl Sandburg and Gwendolyn Brooks.
The American Writers Museum strives to educate the public about American writers both past and present and inspire future writing in in the United States. The flight features different whiskeys paired with quotes from writers who were well-known for their love of both whiskey and the written word. With the flight, The Gage hopes to encourage aspiring writers both in Illinois and from around the world, much like the American Writer’s Museum, who may also be inspired by the magical powers of whiskey. The whiskey flight and specialty cocktail will be available at Beacon Tavern and The Gage during the month of October and $1 from every Algonquin cocktail sold during the month of October will be donated to the museum.
