This August, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago celebrates new performance works with three consecutive weekends of programming!
New York City-based rock singer and composer Tamar-kali and Chicago-based visual artist and musician Damon Locks present ongoing works that break open the boundaries of black musical genres and lineages with creative collaborations across dance, video, and visual art set to live music.
Opening the evening is Damon Locks' Where Future Unfolds, a collaboration with the vocal and percussive Black Monument Ensemble - a group the artist formed to address today's heightened civic engagement.
Tamar-kali's immersive music-driven experience Demon Fruit Blues draws from modern day rock, gospel, blues, and original African rhythms, weaving together her characteristic punk rock sounds with a soulful edge.
