Brendan Fernandes’s dance-based installation is comprised of a series of prompts for audiences to perform choreographed movements and engage in dance parties and talks in the Commons engagement space.
Using language, architecture, and gesture, Fernandes’s project invites visitors to explore the ways that daily movements act as a kind of choreography that conveys meaning and moves other bodies in social spaces. Professional dancers activate the space throughout the run of the exhibition, encouraging visitors to collaborate on new forms of physical language that grapples with the nature of visibility and what it means to be seen.
