Inspired by Mirroring China’s Past: Emperors and Their Bronzes, and the close of the Chinese New Year, join us for lantern-making, storytelling, and art exploration.
A celebration at the Art Institute of Chicago on Saturday, March 3, marks the close of Chinese New Year festivities and extends the experience of the fascinating special exhibition, Mirroring China's Past: Emperors, Scholars, and their Bronzes (February 25-May 13, 2018). Visitors can explore more than 180 spectacular works drawn from the Art Institute of Chicago's strong holdings and exquisite loans from important museums and private collections around the world, including the Palace Museum, Beijing and the Shanghai Museum. An afternoon of art exploration, Chinese music, lantern-making workshops, and festive food and drink offerings in the museum's cafes culminates in a procession of light-filled lanterns at sundown.
